Portable, Anywhere, Anytime Construction Information
I’m sure you’ve walked by construction sites and were curious as to what is happening. Mayor Bloomberg has enabled anyone with a smartphone to quickly access building and construction information. The smartphone application is called Quick Response, QR which reads the bar code that will be included on permits posted on buildings under construction in NYC. The bar code will provide information about the owner of the property, the extent of the work, violations or complaints related to the construction, and the ability to submit a comment or complaint. This information is available online, however, many people walk past a construction site and want to know what’s going on that second and don’t want to wait until they are home to look it up or may forget after they have passed the construction site. At the moment, there are 975,000 construction sites in NYC; all permits will have Quick Response codes by next year. The application can be downloaded for free.
